The Wedge Is Here To Stay

To say wedges are back in style isn’t exactly right because wedges have never really gone out of style. Created by Salavatore Ferragamo in 1936, the wedge grew in popularity in the early ‘40s. Depicting casual elegance and a classic cinema glamour, wedges are still incredibly popular today – particularly amongst today’s contemporary Rockabilly scene. The wedge proudly possesses a lovely blend of retro kitsch and contemporary styling, where a form-fitting leopard dress and sky high black wedges could just as easily be seen in the 1950s, as today.

In general, wedges are far easier to walk in than most other heels, but they do take a little getting used to because the higher the platform and angle the further you are from the ground. This may sound simplistic but it’s a good reminder to take your time when walking up or down stairs or taking curbs until you’re familiar with the shoes.

Of the classic wedge styles the cork heel is probably the most notable – followed by heels covered in twine and fabric, as well as heels made of rubber and plastic. Heels can range in thickness but the heel must run the entire length and width of the sole to be considered a proper wedge. As for straps, some wedges are slingbacks, others are slip ons and some have ties, straps or chords that wind multiple times around the ankle.

Whatever style or colour you choose, have confidence that the wedge is flattering to all. It is also stylish and versatile, and often far more comfortable and useful than most other heels.

It is an unfortunate truth that most of us will stick with one particular style for our clothing. Some are not sure what their style is and so they just copy what others wear. The women who like to show skin will always choose clothes that are tight fitting and cut low to show cleavage. Some women follow fashion trends religiously and these women can give them self a treat by trying something new. 

If you like to make your own rules when it comes to fashion, you are the one who wear garments that no one else wears. This could be wearing very obvious textures together or dying your hair pink or purple. We all have our freedom to wear what we want and this is the best way to express yourself. 

Some women like the smart casual look and so when they shop for their boyfriend or husband, they will shop for guy’s shirts by brand name because they know what he looks good in. If designer shirts are what they are shopping for, they have have a large selection. Knowing your style is one thing, looking good in it is another.  Once you understand your own style, you will dress in a way that lets the real you shine through.

The truth is that yes there is a secret, and apparently a rather well kept one, to finding love. But the good news is, I am going to share it with you. I am going to tell you how anyone can find love. I simply ask that you have a little bit of faith, and a little bit of patience. The secret to finding love is not where to look, it is not how to look. The problem isn’t that you are looking in the wrong place, you aren’t dressing wrong, spending your money wrong, wearing the wrong clothes or any of those things that society would love to tell you is the problem.

If you would truly like to find love the first thing you must do is this, look inside yourself! If you have not learned to love you cannot begin to teach anyone else how to love you. The problem with society is that we teach others how we would like to be treated, but so many of us have such low self esteem that we don’t feel we deserve any better than the bare minimum. If you would like to find love the first secret is to look within, find love within yourself first and others will follow.
